I love money, told you no money means
everything, yeah okay so how I started
out .I started out with zero capital,
zero capital zero, yes yes and I keep
telling my students and other people you
need zero capital to start the business.
You want all you need is your idea, I
know of a friend who wanted to set a
business ,she had the idea but she didn't
have the money so she needed to raise a
hundred thousand shillings and what she
did was put together, a list of a hundred
people who would give her a thousand
bob and she was able to get a hundred
thousand, to start a business on my case
as an Events Manager, all I needed was
the skill of what it is ,that I wanted to
do and approached people a lot of how
grand my business is from referrals from
referrals even from people who.
I have
never planned an event for but just from
this conversation they're like oh she's
passionate about it passion will tell
you right yeah she's passionate about it,
so let's give her a try someone tells
you their budget and then you're able to
work from it of course.
I also tried to
plan my own events back in 2013 I
planned a series of events called the
meetup meets like, Yama yes people come
and network over me over meats which was
for young professionals and it worked
well so all we need to have is the zeal
the knowledge and they know how or how
to go about it and then you start all
right then money will find you all right
you mentioned something to do with you
know you're not having the best of
feeling when of course you have vendors
no delivering as expected but there's
the other side of clients who find it
difficult or maybe were difficult to pay
how have you been dealing with such it's
really painful when you have delivered a
product or a service and the client is
hesitant to pay.
Not even because of quality because if
it's quality they need something that
you can negotiate but they've just they
keep giving you stories I'll pay
tomorrow I'll pay then the day after I'm
still trying to find money it's it feels
bad because you put a lot of effort in
it so of course we had we've had those
challenges before and then we decided
the easiest way to go about it is to,
have a contract in fact that's what I
want it's binding contract yeah that
says this is what you expected to pay on
this particular date and if you don't
pay this is going to be the repercussion
we've had situations where like with a
lot of vendors if you don't pay
according to their terms and conditions
they will either pull out and if they
pull out you lose your deposit yeah or
they actually just don't show up so you
find a situation where someone are
supposed to deliver.
Particular goods for an event they've
delivered you can see there they're down
the truck but they will not be offloaded
until someone makes a payment because of
precedence and I keep saying how clients
should understand that if I'm being
tough on my payments it's not because of
you as a person no it's just what I've
been through and I don't go through that
again I don't want to ruin our
relationship I've not had the same issue
with vendors I work with very specific
people who understand how I work what
are my expectations and it's repeat
business so.
I cannot complain about
vendors really well said and I'm sure
you must be eagerly waiting to get that
financial advice but before we get to
that that should be the last short let's
cross over to quickfire and just get to
know so much sue over the personal life
of this beauty that we have on set today.
